COLUMBUS, Ga. – Baker University seniors Tara Chumley and Alyse Menghini were named 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes this week at the 2014 NAIA Softball World Series.

Both were two of 297 softball players from around the country to earn the distinguished award and Bethel (Tenn.) and William Carey (Miss.) are tied for the most individuals on the list with seven each. Central Methodist (Mo.), Indiana Wesleyan, Midland (Neb.), Spring Arbor (Mich.) and Tennessee Wesleyan are all tied for third-most with six each.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
