Freshman pitcher Heather Gruber allowed nine hits in the complete-game outing.
Game two saw No. 17 William Penn live up to its ranking. The Statesmen (13-4) racked up 16 hits while scoring 10 runs to close out game two in five innings.
"We played very well. Game two was a matter of one inning where their bats were very hot. We are steadily getting better with every game. I'm happy with the progress. Conference play opens Saturday and we're very focused on getting some respect from the HAAC," said Head coach Matt Windle.
The Wildcats will take on Culver-Stockton College (2-7) Saturday afternoon in Canton, Mo.
