The Wildcats (9-17, 1-5) have already tripled their win total from last season. First year head coach Matt Windle has instilled a new attitude in the program, “We want to come out and compete in every game, our ultimate goal this season is to finish somewhere in the top-half of the conference standings,” stated Windle. “If we have some success and play hard on the field, winning will eventually take care of itself in the future.”
Offensively, Brooke Allen and Erin Ford have been stellar. Allen comes into play batting .386, while Ford stands at .329.
Benedictine (6-13, 0-4) enters tonight’s contest on a four-game losing streak after dropping consecutive series’ to Missouri Valley College and Northwest Missouri State.
Recruiting has been key. The Wildcats have already signed seven marquee recruits for the 2010-11 season. “Recruiting players that can excell at the NAIA level both academically and athletically has been the main focus,” Windle said.
