Baker's Katie Worley named HAAC Player of the Week
Junior Katie Worley led the Baker women's softball team back to the playoffs.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker junior catcher Katie Worley was named HAAC Softball Player of the Week, Commissioner Larry Lady announced Monday afternoon.
Worley, a native of Platte Woods, Mo., hit 1.000 while slugging 1.800 in a week that saw the Wildcats advance to their first playoff berth in four years. Worley's three-run homer in the third-inning of a doubleheader last week gave Baker a 5-0 lead from which they never looked back.
The junior went 5-for-5 with four RBIs in the playoff clinching doubleheader against Central Methodist.
"Katie played a key-role in helping us get to the playoffs, I think the individual award shows just how hard the team worked to get to the position we are in," said head coach Matt Windle.
The Wildcats will be back in action Friday afternoon when they play an opening-round HAAC Playoff game against either MidAmerica Nazarene or Lindenwood. Check back on www.bakerwildcats.com for full playoff coverage.
