Wildcats set to face top-seeded Lindenwood Friday afternoon
First-baseman Erin Ford went 3-for-6 against Lindenwood in their first meeting.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker University softball team will return to action Friday afternoon when it travels to St. Charles, Mo., to face top-seeded Lindenwood University in the opening round of the 2010 HAAC Playoffs.
The Wildcats (7-13) are coming off a doubleheader split with Central Methodist University. Baker took game one 5-3 thanks to a three-run homer by Katie Worley in the third inning. Central Methodist took game two 6-0.
Lindenwood (17-3) has been stellar all season. In their previous match-up with the Wildcats, the Lions swept Baker 6-0 and 6-2.
"We are excited about the opportunity to get another crack at Lindenwood," said head coach Matt Windle. "I didn't feel like we were playing at our highest level in our first meeting. We made some changes to our approach at the plate and we are seeing results. I don't know if an eight seed has upset a one seed, but we are certainly prepared to do so.”
Game one is slated to begin at 5 p.m. with the second game to follow immediately after the first contest. If necessary, game three will be played at noon Saturday.
Full 2010 HAAC Playoff match-ups will be available later this evening when all regular season games have concluded.
