Maggie Holmberg named HAAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Baker freshman pitcher Maggie Holmberg (Topeka, Kan.) was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Pitcher of the Week, according to an announcement by league officials on Monday afternoon.
Holmberg went 3-0 over the past week with victories over Bethany College (Kan.), William Jewell College (Mo.) and Missouri Valley College. She allowed just two earned runs in 21 innings of work to post a 0.67 ERA for the week. She closed out the week with a complete game shutout against Missouri Valley College on Sunday afternoon in Baldwin City, Kan.
Holmberg currently leads the team with a 7-1 overall record and 1.66 ERA on the season. The Lady Cats‘ are currently tied for first-place in the HAAC Standings with 13-9 overall record and 4-0 conference mark.
“Maggie is so calm and reserved, but she can be a dominant force when she wants to,” said head softball coach Matt Windle. “The team is confident we will win anytime she throws.”
Baker will return to action on Wednesday afternoon against Haskell Indian Nations University at 5:00 p.m. from Cavaness Field in Baldwin City, Kan.
