On Dec. 8 the Wildcats signed shortstop Frankie Farrant a product of Jefferson West High School in Meriden, Kan. Farrant looks to provide a boost of power to the Wildcat lineup.
“Frankie has been around Baker softball since I began coaching here,” said head coach Matt Windle. “As a sophomore, Frankie would come and hit with the team in our cage and we knew that she would end up a Wildcat. We are really excited to see what she can accomplish here.”
On Dec. 9 Windle announced the signings of catcher MaKayla Greeve, a Seaman High School product from Topeka, Kan., and Ilona Miller, an outfielder from Rossville High School in Rossville, Kan.
“We are losing our catching staff after this season and I was diligent on finding a couple of catchers to come in and compete,” Windle added. “MaKayla did that every time we went out and watched her play this past summer. Ilona was a great ‘get’ for Baker. I spent time with her at the University of Kansas summer softball camp and was completely drawn to her effort and athletic ability.”
Baker will open its 2011 campaign at the Cowtown Senior Classic on Feb. 17-18 in Fort Worth, Texas.
