BU softball wins five of six games; Greenwood continues to dominate
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker softball got back on track this past weekend, sweeping William Penn (Iowa) at the Cavaness Field season opener. Baker took game one 3-0 and followed that up with a 3-2 victory in game two.
Sophomore Erin Greenwood continues to lead the squad both offensively and defensively, posting a batting average of .521 with two home runs and an ERA of 2.02 with 71 stikeouts. Greenwood currently ranks 15th nationally in batting average and 22nd nationally in hits per game with 1.67.
“We nominated Erin for the HAAC Player of the Week honors, but unfortunately the voters just don’t seem to want to vote our way,” said head Baker softball coach Matt Windle.
Prior to the William Penn games Baker went 3-1 against Southwestern College (Kan.) and Friends University (Kan.). Both William Penn and Friends University were receiving votes in the latest NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
Baker (8-7) will travel to Missouri Valley College on Mar. 24 for its HAAC opener against the Vikings (3-7).
