Softball to Host Winter Skills Camp

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University head softball coach Matt Windle and graduate assistant coach Jamie Stanclift will host a winter skills camp for grades 7-12 that will feature a hitting skills camp on Dec. 30, 2012 and a defensive skills camp on Jan. 6, 2013.

The hitting skills camp that will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Dec. 30 is structured for advanced players seeking play at a high achieving varsity level.

The camp will focus on understanding the fundamentals of the swing from the ground up as well as advanced situational skills, and the mental game.

Campers will receive one on one instruction with the coaching staff as we break down their swing through video analysis.

Campers will engage in a variety of drills to further improve muscle memory and skill development. We hope to have each player leave camp with a better all-around understanding of the offensive game, how to improve fundamentals, keys to perfecting their swing, and what it takes to play at the collegiate level.

Players are asked to bring all necessary equipment with them including bat, helmet, running shoes, and batting gloves (if desired).

The defensive skills camp will also run from 1-5 p.m. on Jan. 6 and will primarily focus on individual defensive skills along with game and situational management. We will stress the fundamentals necessary for consistent performance as well as advanced skills to prepare for higher level of play.

We will break down each positional skill and responsibility in a variety of live ball situations. Campers will receive one on one, as well as small group instruction at their primary position and secondary position(s) if desired.

We hope to have each player leave here with a better all–around understanding of the defensive game, fundamentals, and skills necessary to perform at a higher level.

Players are asked to bring all necessary equipment with them including glove and running shoes.

The cost for the camp is $125 for one camp or $200 for both. Any questions should be directed to Coach Windle at 785-594-4567. To register contact Coach Stanclift at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
