LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Baker University softball team participated in a community outreach event last week at the Lawrence Douglas County Fairgrounds celebrating the Holiday season with members of the Douglas County Special Populations group.

Head coach Matt Windle worked with Program Supervisor Annette Deghand to connect the softball team with the Special Populations group for the programs holiday party.

The Special Populations group is for adults with developmental and physical disabilities and gives them the opportunity to socialize and interact with the community.

The Wildcats helped decorate for the holiday party, as well as served the member’s dinner and played bingo.

After dinner, the room was cleared out for a holiday dance party. All in attendance at the party enjoyed the dance and posed for pictures with Santa.

“It was a very rewarding experience for everyone involved,” said Windle. “We look to pursue more opportunities to partner with this great program in the future.”
