Softball Adds Two More to Signing Class

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University interim head softball coach Jamie Stanclift announced the signing of two more student-athletes to her staffs 2014 recruiting class with the announcement of Savannah Bellem of Prairie Village, Kan., and Stephanie Cardona of Parker, Colo.

Bellem will graduate from Shawnee Mission East High School this May, while Cardona graduates this May from Legend High School.

Bellem also played for the Diamond Devils Gold traveling team and was a three-sport letter winner in softball, volleyball and basketball at East.

She helped lead the Lancers to a 2012 6A Regional Championship and was a national honor society member.

"Savannah's athleticism and quickness make her stand out on the field," Stanclift said. "She has the versatility to compete at several positions and can make an immediate impact on this team. Savannah is also an extremely bright student who will thrive here at Baker University."

Cardona is a four-year letter winner at Legend High School and was a golden glove winner in 2011 and 2012.

Off the field, she was named to the National Honor Roll from 2010-2014 and an Academic All-State First Team student-athlete in 2012 and 2013.

She also played for the traveling Elite Sports Prospects in Castle Rock, Colo., where she led them to a second-place finish at the Triple Crown Sparkler Tournament and she was a Triple Crown Sparkler All-State and All-America recipient.

"Stephanie is an intense competitor and a true student of the game," Stanclift said. "She brings versatility and athleticism that will help take our program to the next level."
