Softball Splits Doubleheader at Evangel

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Baker University softball team split its road doubleheader at Evangel on Thursday, falling 5-0 in game one and then rebounded to win game two 6-2.

With the split Baker and Evangel are now tied for fourth-place in the HAAC standings at 6-4. Baker is now 16-18 overall, while Evangel is now 21-9.

Evangel's Michaela Tolliver shutout the Wildcats in game one, allowing just five hits and struck out nine 'Cats.

Rebel Robinson also added a home run for the Crusaders and had two RBI. Mallorie Nelson got the start in the circle for Baker and threw five innings, while Brook Plummer threw the sixth.

Alyse Menghini led the way with two hits for Baker, while Renata Dill, Cami Williams and Lizzie Stover had the other three.

Plummer picked up the win in game two after throwing 3.1 innings and allowing just one earned run.

Nelson was perfect from the plate going 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI's. As a team, Baker had 15 hits.

Dill, Williams and Plummer all had multi-hit games with two apiece. Katt Cooper threw 3.2 innings and struck out four batters.

The Wildcats will host No. 17 ranked Central Methodist on Saturday, Apr. 12 at 2 and 4 p.m. The Eagles are all-alone in first-place in the HAAC at 9-1.
