BU softball has four named to first team all-HAAC squad
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Baker University softball team had four players named to the first team all-HAAC squad the league office announced on Friday afternoon.
Pitchers Erin Greenwood (Topeka, Kan.) and Maggie Holmberg (Topeka, Kan.) highlighted the Wildcat defense.
First baseman Summer Kelley (Shawnee, Kan.) and second baseman Brooke Allen (Topeka, Kan.) rounded out the BU squad. Allen was also awarded the Gold Glove for her stellar play at second base. Alexis Cox was awarded the Gold Glove for her play in the outfield.

Baker softball set to face Evangel in HAAC Conference Championship Semifinals
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After knocking off Peru State College in a best-of-three series in the opening round of the 2012 HAAC Softball Conference Championship, Baker will now set its eyes on defeating second-seeded Evangel University in the double elimination tournament.
Third-seeded Baker (23-17) swept the Crusaders earlier this season by scores of 8-0 and 5-2.
Evangel (33-11) is coming off an opening round sweep over Missouri Valley College by scores of 8-0 and 1-0.

BU softball opens HAAC playoffs at home on Friday
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University softball team will be hosting its first home playoff game in six years on Friday evening when the Wildcats welcome Peru State College for a best-of-three series.
Baker (21-16, 11-7 HAAC) swept the Bobcats earlier this month on a neutral site field in Olathe, Kan.

Holmberg dominates opener against Benedictine
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Maggie Holmberg helped Baker win its eighth game in 10 tries on Sunday afternoon with an 8-0 complete game no-hitter in the opener against Benedictine College.
Brooke Allen, Erin Greenwood, and Kayla Morse all finished with two hits apiece, while each recording RBIs.

Greenwood and Kelley sweep HAAC softball awards
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After a 4-0 week in HAAC play, including a sweep over No. 18 Evangel, both Erin Greenwood (Topeka, Kan.) and Summer Kelley (Shawnee, Kan.) were named HAAC Pitcher and Player of the Week respectively the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Greenwood was a standout in the circle for the Wildcats as she claimed two of the four victories for the Cats‘. She tossed 9.0 innings and allowed just five hits while striking out 12 in a 5-2 win over Evangel. She followed that up with a no-hitter with just one walk and 10 strikeouts in a 3-0 victory over Peru State. She also went 6-for-13 at the plate that included a two-run homer against Peru State and tallied six RBIs for the week.

Softball goes 4-0 on the week; MNU showdown looms
OLATHE, Kan. – A broken sprinkler head at Cavaness Field didn’t disrupt the BU softball team one bit as the Wildcats swept Peru State College on Saturday afternoon at Lone Elm Park in Olathe.
Baker knocked off the Bobcats 6-1 in the opener and Erin Greenwood closed out the nightcap with a 3-0 no-hit shutout.
Summer Kelley highlighted the Baker offense in game one with a two-run homer in the bottom of the third and Maggie Holmberg was stellar on the rubber giving up just one hit with one earned run and 10 strikeouts.

BU softball sweeps No. 18 Evangel
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Baker University softball team broke through with its biggest victory of the season on Thursday night. Baker knocked off No. 18 Evangel University, 8-0 and 5-2 in a key HAAC doubleheader.
Game one saw the Wildcats jump out to an early 6-0 lead over the first two innings.
Erin Greenwood led the BU offense in the opener going 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI’s. Renata Dill finished 3-for-3 with two RBI’s and Alyse Menghini went 1-for-3 with two RBI’s.
Maggie Holmberg picked up her fifth victory of the season, pitching five innings while giving up just three hits with six strikeouts.
Renata Dill sparked BU’s first run in game two with a single to short to open the sixth inning. After a groundout by Erin Greenwood, Summer Kelley singled to left to score Dill.

Baker softball rebounds with sweep of Culver-Stockton
CANTON, Mo. – A late rally saved the Wildcats in their opening game against Culver-Stockton College on Saturday afternoon. After trailing 1-0 heading into the seventh inning, Baker tied the game up and won the game in the eighth, 2-1.
After a pop out by Brooke Allen to start the inning, Renata Dill cracked a double to set the rally in motion. Kayla Morse laid down a bunt and a wild throw to first base scored Dill.
