Wildcats set to face top-seeded Lindenwood Friday afternoon

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker University softball team will return to action Friday afternoon when it travels to St. Charles, Mo., to face top-seeded Lindenwood University in the opening round of the 2010 HAAC Playoffs.
The Wildcats (7-13) are coming off a doubleheader split with Central Methodist University. Baker took game one 5-3 thanks to a three-run homer by Katie Worley in the third inning. Central Methodist took game two 6-0.
Lindenwood (17-3) has been stellar all season. In their previous match-up with the Wildcats, the Lions swept Baker 6-0 and 6-2.

Baker's Katie Worley named HAAC Player of the Week
Junior Katie Worley led the Baker women's softball team back to the playoffs.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker junior catcher Katie Worley was named HAAC Softball Player of the Week, Commissioner Larry Lady announced Monday afternoon.
Worley, a native of Platte Woods, Mo., hit 1.000 while slugging 1.800 in a week that saw the Wildcats advance to their first playoff berth in four years. Worley's three-run homer in the third-inning of a doubleheader last week gave Baker a 5-0 lead from which they never looked back.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - For the first time in four years, the Baker softball team is back in the Heart of America Athletic Conference playoffs.
Katie Worley's three-run home run in the third inning gave the Wildcats a 5-0 lead from which they never looked back. Freshman Heather Gruber pitched six solid innings giving up three runs on 10 hits. Senior Chelsi Taylor took over for Gruber in the seventh and closed the game out in dramatic fashion.

Senior Day sweep, Wildcats defeat St. Mary's

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker University softball team sent their seniors out in style Sunday afternoon posting a sweep of visiting St. Mary's (Kan.) in non-league action. The Wildcats posted a 2-1 extra inning victory in game one, then followed with a 2-1 victory in game two.

Wildcats set to face William Jewell College Monday afternoon
The Baker softball team (10-20, 2-6) was finally able to get out on their home field Thursday afternoon. The Wildcats split a doubleheader with Benedictine College and dropped a doubleheader with Ottawa University on Saturday.
Brooke Allen leads the Wildcats offensively with 36 hits and a .356 batting average. Freshman Heather Gruber (pictured) has been all you can ask for in her rookie season. Gruber has currently owns an 8-9 record with 115 innings pitched.
The Wildcats will be back in action Monday afternoon on their home field at 4:00 p.m., when they take on William Jewell College (9-15, 2-2) in a key HAAC doubleheader.View the full season stats here

Baker splits doubleheader with Benedictine

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker women's softball team finally got its chance to play in front of their own fans on Thursday afternoon. Baker won the first game 4-3 and dropped the nightcap 10-4.
The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in game one thanks to an RBI single and solo home run from sophomore Allie Losey. The lead didn't last. Benedictine scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to even the score at 2-2. But the Wildcats had a flare for the dramatic. Baker won the game in the bottom of the seventh inning courtesy of a single up-the-middle by junior Annie Hannon.
