Baker small dance team wins back-to-back titles

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Baker University small dance team claimed its second consecutive NAIA/NDA Small Dance National Championship this past weekend in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Baker advanced to the final round of four teams after Indiana University East bowed out in the opening round on Thursday.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After winning the 2011 NAIA/NDA Small Dance National Crown in last year, the Baker University spirit squad enters the 2012 competition with similar expectations.
Coming off a first place finish in the hip-hop category and second place finish in small dance at the 2012 Heart of America Athletic Conference Spirit Squad Competition, the team believes it is yet again primed to make a run at the 2012 NAIA/NDA National Championships.
“I think these girls expect to go down there and compete for the title," said Baker dance coach Lynsey Payne.

Spirit Squad set for HAAC competition Feb. 18

OLATHE, Kan. – The Baker University spirit squad travels to Olathe, Kan., on Saturday, Feb. 18 for the annual Heart of America Athletic Conference Spirit Squad Competition.
The squad will be competing in cheer, small dance, and two mascot routines. Last season Baker finished in second place.
“We are hoping to improve on our second place finish last year,” said head dance coach Lynsey Payne. “We have a hip-hop routine for the small dance competition and I am very confident we can bring home the HAAC banner.”

Spirit Squad set to host cheer and dance clinic on Senior Day

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University spirit squad will be hosting a youth cheer and dance clinic for third-fifth graders.
The clinic will begin at 9 a.m. in the Mabee Gymnasium, with a performance at Liston Stadium during the Senior Day football game to follow.

Baker small dance team wins 2011 NAIA NDA National Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – While it may be an emerging varsity sport in the NAIA, the Baker University small dance team took one huge step forward on Friday afternoon winning the 2011 NAIA NDA Small Dance National Championship.
The Wildcats finished ahead of HAAC rival Benedictine College and Concordia College (Neb.)
“I am extremely proud of the dancers,” said head dance coach Lynsey Payne. “We have worked really hard all year and it has paid off greatly. This is a huge step for our program and the NAIA in moving towards varsity sport status.”
