Volleyball set to host Culver-Stockton Friday night

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After dropping a heartbreaking match to Evangel University on Tuesday, the Wildcats (11-8, 2-1) will look to rebound against Culver-Stockton College (4-9, 1-1) at 7 p.m. Friday at the Collins Center.

Evangel and Baker went point for point in almost every set on Tuesday evening. Wildcat sophomore Savannah Smith led the offensive and defensive attack with 19 kills and 16 digs. Setter Jana Boss chipped in with 52 assists.

Sydney Pemberton, a 6-3 transfer from Johnson County Community College, made her Baker debut by adding 13 kills in the contest.

“Adding Sydney adds a whole new dimension to our team,” said Baker assistant coach Matt Windle. “She’s definitely someone who can make this team go a lot further.”

Culver-Stockton College dropped its last match on Sept. 17 to Clarke University (Iowa), 3-0. Offensively, the Wildcats are led by Catie Shue, who averages 2.1 kills per set. Kallie Sinkus anchors the defense with 3.9 digs per set.

Baker’s Brooke Pryor ranks fifth nationally with 261 total kills. Christina Delladio is seventh nationally with 84 total blocks, and Jana Boss ranks No. 9 with 624 total assists.
