Coach Allen ranks among BU’s best of all time
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Tuesday night will go down as one of the all-time special moments in Baker athletics history.
With a 3-1 victory over Graceland at the Collins Center, Wildcat head volleyball coach Kathy Allen recorded her 300th career win, becoming only the second Baker coach in any sport to achieve that milestone.
The longest tenured coach at Baker with 13 years of service, Allen’s teams annually rank among the elite in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and perform well in the classroom with five recent players earning NAIA scholar-athlete recognition.
Among active coaches in the NAIA, Allen’s winning percentage of .687 is 16th and her victory total ranks 25th.
“It really comes back to the great players I’ve had,” Allen said. “Last night was about how well those girls performed. I just get the credit for it.”
Senior Christina Delladio and junior Savannah Smith both had 12 kills to lead the Wildcats offensively in the milestone victory. Junior setter Jana Boss recorded 34 assists in the contest.
Brooke Allen (18 digs), Kelsey Cobb (11 digs) and Delladio (10 blocks) all recorded double digits for the ‘Cats defense.
