Baker Sweeps Day Two at NC Tourney

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Baker University volleyball team bounced back after a tough day one at the Northwestern College tournament, as they took down Valley City State in three sets, 25-16, 27-25, 25-8 and defeated Dakota Wesleyan in four, 25-14, 23-25, 25-12, 25-13.

Baker improves to 2-2 on the season and is now off from competition until next weekend when they travel to Bellevue, Neb., next Friday, Aug. 31 and Saturday, Sept. 1 as they compete in four matches at the Bellvue Tournament.

In the first match, Crystal Simon had 10 kills and three blocks and Jana Boss supplied the Wildcats with a double-double, with her 10 kills and 25 assists.

Jasmyn Turner and Danielle French each had six kills against Valley City State and Renata Dill led the way with 11 digs.

In the final match of the day, Savannah Smith was on fire with 15 kills and posted a hitting percentage of .429. As a team, Baker collected 11 service aces, as Shannon Bond had four and French added three.

Baker had 67 digs against Dakota Wesleyan, with Dill leading the way with 20 and Simon added 13 and Boss had 10.
