BU Rolls in HAAC Opener over CMU

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – In its first match of the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season, the Baker University women’s volleyball team rolled past Central Methodist in three sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-17).

With the victory, Baker improves to 9-5,1-0, while the Eagles fall to 3-7, 0-2. Baker is now 5-1 at home at the Collins Center this season.

Danielle French had a big match with 10 kills along with three solo blocks and assisted on three blocks. She also posted a .304 hitting percentage and as a team Baker hit .165 as a team.

Jana Boss was nearly flawless on hitting attempts with her seven kills and just one error. The reigning HAAC Setter of the Week had 16 assists to lead all players.

Crystal Simon and Renata Dill both added double-digit digs with 10 and 16 respectively and Simon had five kills.

Savannah Smith nearly had double digit kills with her nine and had one of Baker’s two service aces.

Baker will now take a week off from competition and will next face HAAC rival Graceland on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at home.
