With the loss, the Yellowjackets fell to 9-3 and 2-1 in the HAAC. Graceland came out on fire in the first set taking a 5-0 lead to begin the match. Baker had to fight its way back and eventually tied it up at 9-9 and took its first lead of the match at 10-9.
Graceland then took a commanding 21-17 lead late in the set. Baker head coach Kathy Allen called a timeout and rallied the troops.
Out of the timeout Baker stormed back and scored four straight points to tie it up at 21-21. Baker then led at 22-21, but the Yellowjackets managed to string together a late rally and won the first set 23-25.
Baker then won the second, third and fifth sets to take home the victory. Danielle French played terrific in the middle for Baker, leading the match with 15 kills and hit an impressive .433.
As a team Baker hit .197 and had seven service aces with five coming from senior Savannah Smith. The Mansfield, Texas native also had 10 kills on the night.
Moriah Jones led Graceland in kills with 13 and as a team the Jackets had eight service aces. Kelsi and Kendra Martin led the team with three aces apiece.
Baker had 17 team blocks and French had nine block assists and three solo blocks. Baker will next take on the MidAmerica Nazarene Tournament this weekend as they face four teams with two matches each on Friday and Saturday.
