Baker Splits Day Two of MNU Tourney

OLATHE, Kan. – The Baker University women’s volleyball team finished up the MNU tourney with a three set victory over Oklahoma City (25-18, 25-11, 25-16) and a three set loss to No. 11 Oklahoma Baptist (25-15, 25-21, 25-20).

The Wildcats are now 11-8 on the season and return to HAAC play this Tuesday, Sept. 25 as they take on Evangel University at 7 p.m. on the road.

Against OCU, the Wildcats had just six attacking errors and posted a team hitting percentage of .327.

Jana Boss spread the ball well with 28 assists and Crystal Simon led the charge with nine kills and teammates Danielle French and Savannah Smith each added seven kills.

Baker had 10.5 team blocks and French again led the team assisting on five blocks. The Wildcats had 75 digs with junior Renata Dill leading the way with 17.

Oklahoma Baptist held the Wildcat offense to a hitting percentage of .149 and no Wildcat was able to eclipse double-digit kills. French had eight kills to lead the team.

Skyler Strahm and Kristin Pressley led the Bison with 13 kills and OBU collected 92 digs as a team with Gabby Samuels leading the team with 26.

Boss had 21 assists and a team high 19 digs against OBU and was second on the team in kills tied with Smith with six.
