BU Celebrates Senior Night with Win

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – In the final regular season match of the season the Baker University volleyball team defeated Benedictine College in four sets on Tuesday evening, (23-25, 25-11, 25-23, 25-19).

The Wildcats finished the regular season 18-13 and 6-3 in the HAAC and earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming HAAC Playoffs and will host No. 5 Avila this Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Collins Center in the first round.

Benedictine falls to 7-21 and 2-6 in the HAAC and will travel to No. 1 MidAmerica Nazarene in the first round to face the Pioneers in Olathe, Kan., at 8 p.m.

Baker also celebrated senior night on Tuesday, honoring seniors Jana Boss and Savannah Smith before the match. The two seniors shined on their night, as Smith led Baker in kills with 12 and Boss was second with nine and had a team high 30 assists.

Despite losing the first set to the Ravens, Baker responded with a 14 point victory in the second set and played steady the next two sets to take home the win.

As a team, Baker had 13 team blocks with five block assists coming from freshman Danielle French and Jasmyn Turner added two solo blocks along with five kills.

Smith also led the Wildcats in digs with 21 and teammate Renata Dill was second for Baker with 17.
