Volleyball Advances to HAAC Semis

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The No. 4 seeded Baker University volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament with a four set win over No. 5 seeded Avila University (26-24, 22-25, 25-14, 25-19) on Saturday.

With the win Baker will now face No. 1 MidAmerica Nazarene on Wed., Nov. 7 in Olathe, Kan., at the Cook Center. MNU beat No. 8 Benedictine (25-18, 25-21, 25-18) on Saturday in its first round match.

Savannah Smith had a monster match for Baker with 20 kills and a hitting percentage of .349. The Mansfield, Texas native also had nine digs and assisted on three blocks.

Freshman Danielle French joined Smith in double figures in kills with 10 and Renata Dill had a team high 20 kills.

Baker hit .198 as a team and was all over the net with 17.5 total team blocks. French assisted on nine blocks on Saturday and teammates Jana Boss and Shannon Bond assisted on six blocks each.

Fans can watch the semifinal match at MidAmerica Nazarene live via live video at on Tuesday night. Baker and MNU clashed back on Oct. 18, with MNU prevailing, 3-0.
