The Wildcats faced a tough John Brown (Ark.) team on Friday, but escaped with wins in three out of five sets (23-25, 24-26, 25-14, 25-16, 15-12). Baker then cruised by Friends (25-13, 25-18, 25-23), Benedictine (25-11, 25-23, 25-20), and Sterling (25-15, 26-24, 25-8).
Danielle French had 14 kills, while Hannah Bettge and Crystal Simon each had nine for the Wildcats against John Brown. French also hit .355 for the match, while Bettge hit .333 and Simon hit .226. Erin Mcllroy hit .529 for John Brown.
In the second match on Friday against Friends, Shannon McCarty tallied a team high 10 kills for the Wildcats. Simon and French had nine kills, but Simon only hit .188 for the match. The Baker defense also held Friends to a team hitting percentage of .080.
On Saturday against Benedictine, Baker only had a hitting percentage of .141, but held the Ravens to .000. Simon led the team in kills with nine, while McCarty, Bettge, and French posted five kills. Kaysha Green also had two service aces for the Wildcats.
In the second match against Sterling on Saturday, French led the game with eight kills, while Simon had seven. Renata Dill also had two service aces. The Wildcats held Sterling to a hitting percentage of -.010.
Baker will next travel to Lamoni, Iowa and play against Graceland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will then play in the MidAmerica Nazarene Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats will first take on Midland at 1 p.m. and Ottawa at 5 p.m. On Saturday the team will face Northwestern at 10 a.m. and Grandview at 12 p.m.
