Baker Hands MVC First Loss of 2013

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – In its first home Heart of America Athletic Conference match of the season, the Baker University volleyball team handed Missouri Valley its first loss of the season in a three set win, 25-19, 25-21, 25-22.

The Wildcats improved to 12-6 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the HAAC, while MVC fell to 10-1 and 1-1 in the HAAC.

Baker relied on great defense to lead the way, as they collected 11 team blocks and senior Renata Dill had 25 digs to lead the 'Cats.

Sophomore Danielle French had five block assists and Hannah Bettege was second on the team with 12 digs, she also led the team in assists with 30.

Jasmyn Turner had a team high 10 kills and Crystal Simon add six kills. The Baker defense held MVC to just 27 total kills and a hitting percentage of .017.

Baker will next take on Waldorf this Saturday, Sept. 21 at home at 4 p.m., inside the Collins Center.
