No. 3 BU, No. 1 MNU Meet in HAAC Final

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The No. 3 seeded Baker University volleyball team went on the road and upset No. 2 Evangel on Wednesday night in five sets in the semifinal round of the HAAC Conference Tournament and will now take on No. 1 MNU this Saturday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. in Olathe, Kan., for the HAAC Championship.

Baker took down Evangel, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-10, and will look for its first HAAC conference tournament championship in the tenure of head coach Kathy Allen on Saturday and first trip to the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship Tournament.

The Wildcats and Pioneers met in an epic five set match back on Oct. 15 at the Collins Center, but MNU squeezed by Baker in five sets, 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-14, 17-15.

Baker had four Wildcats with double-digit kills on Wednesday, as Danielle French and Crystal Simon each had 17 kills, defending HAAC Hitter of the Week Jasmyn Turner had 16 and Shannon McCarty had 13.

Defending HAAC Setter/Player of the Week Hannah Bettge passed out 54 assists and had eight kills and with the victory Baker improved to 23-8 on the year, while Evangel ended its season with a record of 21-12.

Micah Cribbs had 17 kills for the Crusaders and Haley Watson led all players with 18 kills. As a team Evangel hit .173 as a team, while the Wildcats hit .218.
