BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University head volleyball coach Kathy Allen announced the signing of two future Wildcats, as she signed Kallie Fischer of Silver Lake High School and Kailan Kuzmic out of Butler County Community College to letters of intent for the 2014 season.

Fischer helped lead Silver Lake to a Class 3A State Championship and earned a spot on the First Team All-League and All-State Tournament teams.

"I've been watching Kallie grow and develop as a player for several years," Allen said. "She has the ball control and arm speed to contend for a spot on the outside very quickly."

Kuzmic was a starter at outside hitter and setter for Butler County CC and will transfer to Baker at the beginning of the spring 2014 semester and will be able to practice with the team during spring workouts.

"I've known about Kailen since she was a force at the High School level," said Allen. "Her game has improved tremendously since entering the community college ranks. Kailen should be an impact player for the Wildcats right away.

"She is an excellent jumper and athlete and is an all-around player similar to one of our past stars, Savannah Smith."

Baker finished the 2013 season with a record of 23-9 and tied for second-place in the HAAC regular season standings and finished runner-up in the HAAC Conference Tournament.
