SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Baker University volleyball team bounced back after a tough day one at the Northwestern College tournament, as they took down Valley City State in three sets, 25-16, 27-25, 25-8 and defeated Dakota Wesleyan in four, 25-14, 23-25, 25-12, 25-13.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA. – The Baker University volleyball team dropped its first two matches of the Northwestern Tournament in three sets to Grace College, 18-25, 16-25, 22-25 and fell to Morningside in five sets, 19-25, 25-18, 23-25, 26-24, 12-15.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The defending HAAC regular season conference champion Baker women’s volleyball team will begin its 2012 campaign this Friday, Aug. 24 and Saturday, Aug. 25 as they compete in four matches at the Northwestern College Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Coming off a banner year in 2011, the Baker University volleyball team has already begun preparations for the 2012 fall season as head coach Kathy Allen announced the signing of 12 new student-athletes.

“I think a number of these players will have a chance to step in right away and compete for a spot on varsity,” Allen said. “Just about every newcomer we’ve signed has had some sort of sustained success at the high school or junior college level, they’ll be ready to take it to the next level here at Baker University.”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After winning its first HAAC crown in over a decade, the Baker women’s volleyball team grabbed three more accolades as seniors Brooke Allen (Topeka, Kan.), Kelsey Cobb (Overland Park, Kan.) and Kayla Anderson (Alma, Kan.) were all named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

A total of 391 student-athletes were honored this year. Student-athletes are nominated by their institution’s head coach and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order to qualify for the honor.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After finishing the regular season 26-11 overall and 9-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season, the Baker University volleyball team added to its list of accolades as senior Brooke Allen (Topeka, Kan.), junior Jana Boss (Shawnee Mission, Kan.) and senior Christina Delladio (Bonner Springs, Kan.) were all named to the all-HAAC first team.

BADLWIN CITY, Kan. - No. 2 seed MidAmerica Nazarene upended top-seeded Baker University 3-0 on Saturday in the Heart of America Athletic Conference volleyball championship at the Collins Center.

The Pioneers (28-7) defeated Baker (26-11) 25-18, 33-31, 25-20 to snap the Wildcats’ winning streak at 15 matches and receive the conference’s automatic berth in next week’s NAIA tournament.

Baker, which finished 9-0 in the HAAC during the regular season, hadn’t lost since Sept. 23. MidAmerica Nazarene has won six in a row since a 3-1 loss to Baker on Oct. 18.

Volleyball team set for HAAC title showdown with MidAmerica Nazarene

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University women’s volleyball team hasn’t been in the unique position of clinching a HAAC postseason title since the 1995 season, when the ‘Cats advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.

Saturday evening, top-seeded Baker will have everything on the line when it faces No. 2-seed MidAmerica Nazarene. The winner of Saturday’s match will receive an automatic berth into the 2011 NAIA National Championships, with the opening round set to be held Nov. 19 at host campus sites.
