The best result of the day came in the women’s 4x400 meter relay, where Jebryanna Wellington, Ashlee Miller, Hannah Moore and Ariella Harrison took first-place with a time of 4:05.45.
“This was the fastest our 4x400 team has ever been this early in the season,” said head coach Zach Kindler. “I think this bodes well for the future and I think this is going to be a successful team as we progress into the season.”
Highlighting the men’s side was Jeremy Gathright, who took home first-place in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 14.44 meters. Jeremiah Korn also had a solid showing taking second-place in the men’s shotput with a final mark of 15.33 meters.
“The surface they used up at Kansas was tough for Jeremiah,” added Kindler. “He still took second-place with poor footing. Overall I was very pleased with the way we started out the season. The upperclassmen are definitely doing what they’re expected to do. The underclassmen will really benefit our team this year as we progress on through the season.”
Baker will return to action next weekend when it participates in the UNL Holiday Invite in Lincoln, Neb., on Jan. 14-15.
