Jeremy Gathright led the way on the men’s side with a first place finish in the men’s triple jump. Gathright’s jump of 14.43 meters in the finals outdistanced Lindenwood’s Jaleen White, as he finished in second with a mark of 14.16 meters.
Taylor Nall also took home a first place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 9:36.01.
On the women’s side, Katie Thurbon led the way with a first place finish in the women’s pole vault with a mark of 3.50 meters.
Stephanie Nelson (42.79 meters) and Aubree Gustin (42.55 meters) were stellar yet again in the javelin throw with second and third place finishes.
Megan Rosa had another solid performance with her second place finish in the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:23.05. Mary Loveland also recorded a second place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 12:21.69.
Head track and field coach Zach Kindler was named HAAC Coach of the Year on the men’s side. Lindenwood’s Ed Harris was awarded the honor on the women’s side. The men's male most valuable performer went to Central Methodist sprinter Edward Stewart. Stewart was also scored the most points in the meet on the men's side with 30. The women's most valuable performer was awarded to William Jewell's Sara Shippey. She also had a busy weekend, scoring 33 points overall for the Cardinals.
“I was extremely proud of the athletes and how they stepped up to the challenge,” said assistant coach Brent Bailey. “The men’s title came from hard work in every event with each athlete battling for every point. I am so proud to be a part of this accomplishment.”
