Wildcats show dominance at CMU Invitational
FAYETTE, Mo. – The Baker men’s and women’s track and field teams showed their dominance this past weekend at the Central Methodist University Invitational.
The Wildcats took over the No. 1 spot in all but one relay in the HAAC conference rankings.
The women’s 4x100 relay team is still looking to punch their ticket to the 2012 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, but managed to finish second with a time of 48.98 seconds. The men’s 4x100 meter relay team finished third, but overtook the top spot in the HAAC with a time of 42.99 seconds.
Individually Katelyn Wolken finished second in the women’s javelin with a throw of 36.10 meters, just three centimeters off her personal best this season. Stephanie Nelson finished second in the women’s discus and sophomore Valarie Schirmer took home second in the women’s shot put where she currently ranks third in the HAAC.
Jeremy Gathright climbed his way to the top of the HAAC rankings in the 400 meter dash posting a time of 48.92 seconds. Thrower Clayton Hill moved up to second place in the HAAC with a third place finish in the men’s shot put with a mark of 13.66 meters.
