Nelson Earns Weekly Field Award

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University earned two Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field weekly awards on Monday, as Stephanie Nelson earned the HAAC women's field award and Cody Viergever won the men's field award.

Nelson gave Baker the Field award for the second-straight week after a record-setting performance at the Kansas Relays. A native of Kansas City, Kan., she was the runner-up in the javelin with a school-record throw of 47.31m, good for #2 on the NAIA Performance List.

Viergever was among the leaders in the javelin at the Tabor Invitational over the weekend. A native of Mayetta, Kan., he placed third in the event with a toss of 55.34m, missing the NAIA "A" Qualifying Standard by just 20cm.

Baker will host the Wildcat Relays this Saturday, Apr. 27 at Liston Stadium.
