Track Garners Three HAAC Awards

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After competing in its host 2014 Wildcat Open on Saturday afternoon, three Wildcats earned this week's installment of the HAAC weekly awards, as Dayshawn Berndt was named the HAAC Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, while Billi Pipes and Stephanie Nelson swept the Female Athlete and Field of the Week honors.

Berndt picked up a pair of victories to wrap up the regular season. The sophomore from Baldwin City, Kan., won the 400m with a time of 48.51 and helped the 4x100m relay team to first place with a time of 42.30.

Pipes won a pair of events and was runner-up in another at the Wildcat Open. The sophomore from Salado, Texas won the 200m (24.59) and 400m (57.79), while the 4x100m relay team finished second with a time of 48.05.

Nelson made her final performance on her home track a successful one as she won the javelin with a throw of 41.68m while taking fifth in both the shot put (12.26m) and the discus (42.85m).

Baker will next take on the HAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships this May 1-3 in Atchison, Kan., on the campus of Benedictine College. For a look at the full schedule of events, please click here.
