BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University indoor track & field team earned two Heart of America Athletic Conference weekly awards announced on Monday, as Kendal Holloman and Tyson Robke earned the Heart Field Athlete of the Week awards.

This marks the second time this indoor season Robke has earned the award and first for Holloman.

She automatically qualified for the NAIA national indoor meet in the women's pole vault with her mark of 3.48m at the Dutch Athletics Classic hosted by Central College. She finished in first place out of six competitors.

Robke took first place in the men's heptathlon over the weekend, taking first over eight other competitors with a personal best 4,584 points and he now ranks No. 8 nationally in this event.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University announced the signing of Topeka Seaman track & field athlete Jordan Heinrich to a letter of intent this week.

Heinrich finished in ninth place in the 2015 Kansas State Championships as a junior in the discus and led the Vikings to a 5A Regional Championship in 2014.

She chose Baker University over Pittsburg State and Washburn and was an All-City selection in 2015.

“We are thrilled to have Jordan sign here at Baker,” said head track & field coach Ryan Pitts. “She will make an immediate impact on our throwing squad.”

She plans to major in nursing.

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Baker University women’s track & field team captured four NAIA Scholar-Athletes announced at the 2015 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships over the weekend.

The four female athletes to earn the award were juniors Danielle French, Jordan Miller and Sarah Mullins and senior Paige Rockers.

Three off of that list competed over the weekend at the 2015 NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Rockers competed in the women’s triple jump, while Mullins competed for the women’s 4x100m relay with teammates Diamond Griffith, Ty Sloan and Billi Pipes.

Miller became the only Wildcat on either the men’s or women’s outdoor track team to earn All-America status with her sixth-place finish in the javelin.

The four Wildcats on the scholar-athlete list were amongst a group of 450 women’s indoor and outdoor track and field student-athletes from across the NAIA to earn the award.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University junior javelin thrower Jordan Miller earned All-American status over the weekend at the 2015 NAIA Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Mickey Miler Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The Ozawkie, Kan., native finished in sixth-place out of 20 throwers on the national stage with her throw of 42.87m. She became the only Wildcat at this year’s national championship to earn an All-American award.

Just missing out on All-America honors for Baker were Tyson Robke and Brenda McCollum.

Robke finished in ninth-place in the men’s decathlon, while McCollum took ninth in the women’s 5,000m race walk in a time of 26:41.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University track and field team signed three athletes to join its 2015-16 squad this week.

Brad Newsome, Rebecca Sumler and Cole Stallard all signed letters of intent to join the Wildcats.

Sumler joins the ‘Cats from McDonald County HS in Anderson, Mo. She will compete in the shot put and discus for Baker. She will also join her brother Daniel, who is a member of the BU football team.

Newsom is a Belpre, Kan., native and will compete in the sho tput, discus and hammer throw for Baker. He played football and competed on the track and field team at Kinsley High School in Kinsley, Kan.

He was a unanimous All-District offensive and defensive lineman for the Coyotes.

Stallard joins Baker after a stellar career at Lawrence Free State High School. He will run cross country and track and filed at BU.

While at Free State, he helped lead the Firebirds to a Sunflower League Championship and was a member of the 4x800 meter State qualifying team.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University senior Paige Rockers and sophomore Tyson Robke earned this week’s Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the week and Men’s Track Athlete of the Week awards, announced on Monday.

Both put up big performances over the weekend at the William Jewell College Darrel Gourley Open.

Rockers hit the A standard in the women's triple jump over the weekend, as the senior took second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.65m out of 11 athletes.

While Robke, qualified for the 2015 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in the decathlon and finished in second place out of nine competitors with 5,915 points at the William Jewell Darrel Gourley Open.

To qualify for the decathlon at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, the NAIA will select the Top 16 decathlon point leaders.

LIBERTY, Mo. – The Baker University men’s and women’s track and field team competed at the Darrel Gourley Open hosted by William Jewell College over the weekend.

Baker posted five national qualifiers including Paige Rockers, as she hit the A standard qualifying mark in the women’s triple jump with a jump of 11.65-meters and the women’s 4x100 meter relay team of Diamond Griffith, Ty Sloan, Sara Mullins and Billi Pipes hit the B standard qualifying time of 48.30 finishing in second place just behind Lincoln University.

Tyson Robke, Seth Ahart and Mark Harman all performed well for Baker in the men’s decathlon, as they all hit the qualifying mark for nationals with 5,915, 5,235 and 5,167 points respectively. To qualify for the decathlon at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, the NAIA will select the Top 16 decathlon point leaders.

Jordan Miller also shined on the women’s side with a first place finish in the discus. She finished in first place ahead of 34 other competitors with a final throw of 36.98-meters. She also won the women’s javelin competition with a throw of 34.70-meters.

The women’s team finished in third place with 96 points, just behind first place Lincoln (189 points) and Wiliam Jewell (110). While the men’s team took home fourth with 78 total points.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University track and field team hosted the 74th Annual Baker Relays on Saturday afternoon inside Liston Stadium.

Some highlights for the Wildcats include a first place finish by Billi Pipes in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.26, while Morgan Lober also took home first in the women’s 400-meter dash in a time of 58.86.

Tyler Sloan blew past the competition in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with her first place time of 15.55.

Kendal Holloman finished in first place in the women’s pole vault with a mark of 3.44-meter and Pipes won the women’s long jump at 5.37-m and Paige Rockers captured the women’s triple jump at 11.38-m.

Reigning HAAC Field Athlete of the Week Jordan Miller won the women’s javelin with a throw of 40.09-m and Brenda McCollum won the women’s 5000-m race walk in a time of 26:56.

Dayshawn Berndt captured first in the men’s 200-meter dash in a time of 22.34 and Birdsong Warren won the men’s high jump at 1.82m. Corey Peoples also won first-place for Baker, as he won the men’s shot put at 14.21m and Josh Peck won the men’s discus with a throw of 51.86m and CJ Hess won the men’s javelin with a throw of 47.52m.

As a team Baker won the women’s team title with 275.50 points, while the Baker men won with 274 points.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University junior thrower Jordan Miller earned this week’s Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honor after her performance at the 2015 Wendy’s Pittsburg State University Invitational on Saturday.

Miller hit the B standard of the national qualifying mark in the javelin this weekend with a throw of 39.47m, finishing in second place out of 11 competitors.

Baker will host the Baker Relays this Saturday, Apr. 4 at Liston Stadium.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The 2015 HAAC Indoor Track and Field Men’s and Women’s team Champion Baker University Wildcats captured three HAAC Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, announced on Monday.

The three ‘Cats earning the award were Paige Rockers earning the Women’s Indoor Field award, Tyler Sloan winning the Women’s Indoor Athlete award and Josh Peck was the HAAC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Rockers had a busy HAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend, taking home first place in the women's triple jump, while finishing third in the high jump and fourth in the long jump.

Sloan finished in first and second place in her two events this weekend with a first place finish in the 55-meter hurdles and second place in the women's 200-meter dash.

Peck was one of five male athletes that tied for the HAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships Men's MVP award with his first place finish in the shot put and weight throw over the weekend.
