Ottawa Invitational Coach's Corner

We were very disappointed with our season opening tournament effort at the Southwestern College tournament last month. IndividualCoach Karen Exon and team scores were much higher than we anticipated. The individual and team effort at last week’s Ottawa tournament was much more in line with our expectations and the potential of our individual golfers and the team as a whole.

“I was very pleased with the way that individuals and the team dealt with miserably wet, cold, and windy conditions. I expected second round scores to be higher, but they were not substantially so--a testament to the ability of our players to grind through tough conditions. The Ottawa tournament was the first fall tournament for Dani Weimholt. I was pleased with senior Amelia Harshfield who put the needs of her team ahead of her own interests, and I really liked the solid play of junior Krista Yaktine and sophomore Stacy Yowell. Freshman Bristol Brandt showed growth and improvement in this tournament,” said Coach Karen Exon.

We look forward to the fall season closing tournament, the Missouri Valley Fall Invitational,to be played next week at Indian Foot Hills Golf Course in Marshall, Mo. We expect to have the entire team intact at that tournament for the first time all fall.
