BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University women's golf team made history last week by capturing the programs first-ever Heart of America Athletic Conference Team Championship and will now compete in the 19th Annual NAIA Women's Golf National Championship at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb., May 21-24.

First-round action will tee off May 21 at 7:30 a.m. CDT, with SCAD Savannah (Ga.), Wayland Baptist (Texas) and Concordia (Ore.) starting on No. 1, while William Woods (Mo.), Victoria (B.C.) and Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) open on No. 10. The afternoon session kicks off at 12:30 p.m. with Lubbock Christian (Texas), Northwood (Fla.) and SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) setting out at No. 1 and Lee (Tenn.), Bellevue (Neb.) and Baker (Kan.) at No. 10.

Lee, Bellevue and Baker's No. 5 golfers will open the second round at 7:30 a.m. on hole one. On the back nine, Lubbock Christian, Northwood and SCAD Atlanta will start. William Woods, Victoria and Dakota Wesleyan starts the afternoon session on No. 1, while SCAD Savannah, Wayland Baptist and Concordia start play on No. 10.

Seventeen automatic qualifying teams punched their ticket with a team title in one of the NAIA's conference/independent/unaffiliated group tournaments, while nine at-large selections, plus one host berth– determined using the final NAIA Women's Golf Coaches' Top 25 Poll – and nine individual qualifiers make up the 144-player field at this year's National Championships.

The Wildcats road to the championship tournament will begin on Saturday with a practice round at Wilderness Ridge at 10:30 a.m. The five-golfer team of Jade Brake, Bristol Brandt, Rachel Strecker, Rebecca Holder and Lindsey Mateer will all compete next week.

On Sunday, the team will participate in a NAIA Champions of Character Community Service event at the tournament course from 1-3 p.m. and volunteer in a youth clinic for young golfers in the Lincoln area.

Tuesday the team will open up play in the first round at 12:30 p.m. against No. 17 ranked Bellevue (Neb.) and No. 8 ranked Lee (Tenn.).
Jade Brake will be the first Wildcat to tee off at 12:30, then Britsol Brandt will follow her up at 12:40, Rachel Strecker tees off at 12:50, Rebecca Holder will begin her first round at 1 p.m. and HAAC Women's Golfer of the Year Lindsey Mateer tees off at 1:10 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Wildcats will tee off early for their second round at 7:30 p.m. The five Wildcat golfers will go in order in which they shoot the lowest round in the first round.

For example, the golfer with the highest first round score will go first and then the order of tee time will commence from there with the lowest Baker golfer's score from round one to tee off at 8:10 a.m.

On Thursday, the team pairings will be based on team overall scores. The teams that come in placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd after the first two rounds will all be paired together and it will go chronologically from there in groups of three squads based on teams overall scores.

To advance to play in the final round on Friday, Baker will have to place in the Top 17 of the team scores or if the team doesn't place in the Top 17 team scores but has an individual golfer in the Top 40 places, that individual will compete on the final day.

But, if the Wildcats don't place in the Top 17 as a team and don't have a golfer place in the Top 40 individually, Baker will not compete in the final round on Friday.
