Wildcats Takes Ninth at NAIA Preview

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Baker University women's golf team competed at a familiar course this week, as they took part in the Doane College Invitational at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club, the site of the 2013 and 2014 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship tournament.

As a team, Baker competed in last year's NAIA National Tournament at Wilderness Ridge and had a solid performance this season.

Out of 18 teams, the Wildcats finished ninth with a two-day total score of 724. Freshman Kaci Dillingham had the lowest scores of the tournament for Baker with a first round score of 83 and second round of 82, for a total of 165 and tie for 11th place.

Defending Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week Lindsey Mateer finished tied for 28 with a two-day score of 176 and

Emma Tinsley shot a two-day round of 190, good for tied for 52nd place.

Amber Mechtley and Jade Brake also competed for the Baker varsity squad and shot a 193 and 205 respectively, good for tied for 60th and 74th place.

The Wildcats will next compete in the Missouri Valley College Invitational at the Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall, Mo., on Oct. 7-8.
