Baker rolls Culver-Stockton on Senior NightAlix Schiraldi

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After a scoreless first half that was directly into a westerly wind, Baker got things rolling in the second half.

Jenny Haynes got the scoring started 8 minutes in when she received a cross from Christine Janssens to give the Wildcats the 1-0 lead. From that point on Baker didn’t look back.

Christine Janssens netted a goal 14 minutes later on a pass from the corner by Alix Schiraldi (pictured) that just slipped past the Culver-Stockton goalkeeper into the left corner of the net.

3 minutes later it was Ashley Ukena who broke past three defenders and evaded the goalkeeper to give Baker the 3-0 lead. The scoring didn’t stop there. Just over a minute later, Baker goal scoring leader Alix Schiraldi scored her ninth goal of the season to put Baker ahead 4-0 on a cross from Janssens.

With 15 minutes remaining in regulation Cara Hollinsworth and Rachel Shepard scored back-to-back goals to give Baker the 6-0 advantage.

Maggie Dupes recorded her tenth shutout of the season as Baker improved to 12-5 overall and 6-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

The Wildcats will be back in action Tuesday evening when they take on HAAC leader Graceland at 5:30 p.m. in the season finale.  View the full box score here.
