Baker (11-5-4) will face No. 12 McKendree University (15-3-2) on Saturday, November 20th in the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening round. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
“We’re really excited to play in a first round game, said head coach Nate Houser. “We’re excited to play close to home, hopefully we can get some Baker students and fans to travel so we can enjoy their support.”
The Wildcats earned a berth into the tournament after defeating William Jewell College in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Tournament.
The Wildcats own a 2-1-1 all-time record against the Bearcats. Most recently, the Baker defeated McKendree 1-0 in 2009.
Alix Schiraldi and Christine Janssens continue to lead the offensive attack for Baker. Schiraldi has 10 goals on the season, while Janssens follows closely behind with nine.
McKendree’s Sulyn Keomanivane leads the Bearcats with 12 goals on the season. Goalkeeper Liz Yanko ranks 24th nationally with .73 goals against per game.
