No. 19 Baker women fall to No. 18 Hastings

HASTINGS, Neb. – The Baker University women’s soccer team fell to Hastings College 4-2 on Tuesday evening.

The Broncos (12-2-1) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never trailed from that point forward. Maddie Michalek scored just two minutes into the contest for the Broncos, before Esmeralda Lacayo added another goal in the 18th minute.

Baker (8-3-1) responded quickly after going down two goals, as Jordan Dolbin knocked in a free kick just 37 seconds later.

The Broncos would add another goal just before the half to take a 3-1 lead heading into the break.

Esmeralda Lacayo struck again in the 53rd minute to give Hastings a 4-1 lead. Alix Schiraldi added a goal for Baker in the 67th minute to close the gap to 4-2, it was her 11th of the season.

Goalkeeper Maggie Dupes made four saves in the contest.

The Wildcats return to action on Saturday evening against Benedictine College at 5:30 p.m. from Liston Stadium for Senior Night.
