BU Sits at No. 6 in Women's Soccer Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With a 15-3-2 2011 record and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Tournament, the Baker University women’s soccer team earned 465 points and is ranked No. 6 in the 2012 NAIA Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll, announced on Tuesday evening.

Baker’s upcoming schedule includes six games with teams ranked in the Top 25 including fellow HAAC foe, No. 16 ranked Graceland on Oct. 13 in Lamoni, Iowa.

Baker opens up the 2012 season next Monday, Aug. 24 at home against No. 9 ranked Westmont College (Calif.) at 2 p.m.

The Wildcats will follow that up with two other ranked opponents, as they face No. 24 University of Science and Arts (Okla.) on Aug. 24 and then faces No. 11 Oklahoma City on Aug. 25 at 5 p.m 

No. 12 ranked Hastings will come to Baldwin City, Kan., on Sept. 15 to take on Baker at noon and the final squad that Baker takes on in 2011 that earned a spot in the Coaches’ Top 25 poll is No. 23 Kansas Wesleyan. The Wildcats will travel to Salina, Kan., on Sept. 22 to take on the Coyotes at 5:30 p.m.

Notes: (All information dates back to 1999) Lee (Tenn.) earns the No. 1 position in the Preseason Top 25 for the fourth-straight year (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009) ... Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) owns the longest current active streak of consecutive appearances in the Top 25 with 137 ... Second-ranked Concordia (Ore.) is the only other program to occupy a spot in the poll 100-or-more consecutive weeks with 116 ... Lee is a distant third with 98-straight mentions ... Lindsey Wilson owns the most No. 1 rankings all-time with 41, followed by former NAIA member Azusa Pacific (Calif.) (33), Westmont (Calif.) (19), Concordia (10) and Martin Methodist (10) ... The Blue Raiders also lead the way with consecutive weeks at No. 1 with 13, spanning the 2004 - 05 seasons ... The 2011 Lee squad is the first team to start and end the season at No. 1.
