No. 6 Baker Earns First Win of 2012

CHICKASHA, Okla. – The No. 6 ranked Baker University women’s soccer team picked up its first win of the 2012 season with a win over No. 24 ranked University of Science & Arts (Okla.) on Friday afternoon, 3-0.

The Wildcats improve to 1-0-1, while the Drovers fall to 0-1-0. Baker got on the board first in the 27th minute with a goal from sophomore midfielder, Ashley Mauck.

The other two goals came off the foot of sophomore Alexa Fryer in the 71st minute and senior Finola Corley in the 73rd minute.

USAO responded with a goal of their own in the final moments of the match, with a goal in the 90th minute by Ryah Vyse and the assist went to Callie Cooper.

Baker goalkeeper Rachel Theobald played all 90 minutes and almost had a shutout, but saved five shots.

Baker won’t have much time to rest as they take on No. 11 ranked Oklahoma City on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m.
