The Eagles fell to 7-5-1 overall and 0-2 in the HAAC. The Wildcats defense allowed just six shots on the day with three on goal and took 14 with 10 on goal.
Rachel Theobald earned the shutout victory with her three saves and senior Jordan Dolbin led the team in shots taken with four.
Alexa Fryer scored Baker’s first goal in the first half with just 17:45 left until halftime. Baker went into the break leading 1-0, but extended its lead when Finola Corley knocked in a goal with 16:25 left in the match.
Then just a few seconds later, Baker scored on an own-goal by Avila’s keeper Stephanie Gartner.
Baker will return to conference play at home on Tuesday, Oct. 9 when they face rival MidAmerica Nazarene at 5 p.m.
