BU Falls in HAAC Semis to BC

ATCHISON, Kan. – The No. 24 ranked Baker University women's soccer team fell to No. 17 Benedictine College for the second time this season, as they lost to the Ravens, 3-1, on Tuesday night in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Semifinal round.

Baker fell to 12-6-1 with the loss and will now wait until Sunday, Nov. 11 to see if they earn an at-large spot in the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Tournament which will be held in Orange Beach, Ala. From Nov. 26-Dec. 1.

The Ravens will now take on No. 1 Graceland in the HAAC Finals on Friday, Nov. 10 in Lamoni, Iowa at 7 p.m. The Yellowjackets defeated No. 4 Missouri Valley, 2-0, on Tuesday night.

Benedictine also defeated Baker back on Oct. 20 in a 3-2 win also at the BC Soccer Complex.

Erin O'Brien put Benedictine up first in the 11th minute with a goal past keeper Rachel Theobald and the assist going to Jordan Francescon

Bethany Smith then scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 32nd minute with the assist registered to teammate Ashley Chandler.

Alexa Fryer scored her 15th goal of the season in the 43rd minute right before halftime and Taylor Hensel collected the assist.

Natalie Henson then put the game away for good in the 67th minute with a score and Bethany Smith picked up another point in the match with the assist.

Baker fans can see if the Wildcats earn a spot in the National Tournament by tuning into this Sunday for a full release on the field.
