BU Picks up First Win of 2013

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The No. 23 ranked Baker University women's soccer team defeated AIB College of Business for its first win of 2013 with a 2-0 win at North Park.

In the first home game of her career, freshman Keeley Atkin scored a pair of goals to lead the Wildcats. Atkin scored in the 28th minute and then in the 35th minute for the matches only goals.

Alexa Fryer had the assist on the first score and then freshman Taylor Baum connected with Atkin for the assist on the final goal.

The Wildcats took 16 shots on the day and allowed just eight and Rachel Theobald had a terrific day garnering the shutout with four saves. She laid out for two saves that she knocked up above the top cross bar.

Fryer and Atkin both took six shots apiece to lead the squad and Amber Pickering, Gabrielle Betsch, Baum and Allison Haddad took the other two shots.

For AIB, Carlan Samuelson led the Eagles with five shots and three shots on goal and keeper Samantha Noffke had five saves on the day.

Baker will next take on Oklahoma City University again at North Park on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 3 p.m.
