BU Ends Match with Hastings in 1-1 Tie

HASTINGS, Neb. – The Baker University women's soccer team ended a match in a tie for the sixth time this season, this time tying Hastings College on the road, 1-1, on Wednesday evening.

The Wildcats move to 5-4-6 on the year, while HC moves to 8-4-1 and ended in its first tie of 2013.

The Wildcats were outshot, 21-12, by the Broncos and its goalkeeper Rachel Theobald had 10 saves and was busy all night swatting away HC shots.

Alexa Fryer and Allison Haddad led Baker with three shots apiece and Fryer tied up the game in the 86th minute with an unassisted goal.

HC scored in the 65th minute with a goal by Maddie Michalek. Kelsey Nealon and Amanda Olson led all players with six shots each.

Baker was whistled for 17 fouls on the night, while Hastings was called for 11 and HC also had 11 corner kicks, six more than Baker.

The Wildcats will return home this Saturday, Oct. 19 to take on Avila University at 6 p.m. on Senior Night.
