William Jewell downs Wildcats
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker tennis teams fell to William Jewell 7-2 (men) and 8-1 (women) on Tuesday on the Laury Tennis Courts.
Sophomore Casey Gleue defeated Chad Kirkland (7-5, 6-2) for the only singles match win for the Wildcat men, and junior Molly Flanigan recorded the lone win for the women by defeating Megan Groninger (6-0, 6-3).
Baker’s Stephen Donly and Drew Richter paired up to earn a doubles win for the men. The duo defeated William Jewell’s Chris Dailey and Jake Szybowicz 9-8 (7-3).
Tuesday was also Senior Day for Keith Pipkin (pictured) and Taylor Bonar. Pipkin fell in his singles match 6-3, 6-0 and Bonar was defeated 6-0, 6-2.
The Wildcats are back in action this weekend as they take on McKendree University at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Louis, Mo. and Lindenwood University at 10 a.m. Sunday in St. Charles, Mo.

Tennis teams suffer rough weekend
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Baker University tennis teams traveled to Graceland University on Saturday afternoon and finished up the weekend on Sunday at No. 21 Northwest Missouri State.
Both the Baker men and women dropped their conference matches with Graceland University 9-0. The Baker men now stand at 3-4 overall, while the women stand at 2-5. Check back on www.bakerwildcats.com for full match results.
Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they play host to William Jewell College at 4:00 p.m.

Baker set to host two home events this week
Both Baker tennis teams have finally been able to get outside after some poor weather to start the 2010 season. The Baker men's tennis team currently owns a 2-1 record with victories against Friends University and Missouri Baptist College. The women's tennis team currently owns a 2-2 overall match record with victories against Morningside College and Friends University.
Saturday afternoon saw both teams back in action in Baldwin City when they squared off with Bethel College. Both the men and women dropped their matches 6-3. Detailed results will be available later in the week.
Get out and watch some tennis aciton this week. Both Baker tennis teams will be in action Monday afternoon against Tabor College at 4:00 p.m, and Tuesday afternoon against conference foe Missouri Valley College at 4:00 p.m, as well.

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Baker women's tennis team dropped its conference opener to Evangel University on Wednesday evening. Freshman Tresa Carter and sophomore Laura Caby led Baker to its first victory of the evening winning 8-5 in doubles.

Baker tennis gets season rolling
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker men's and women's tennis teams are off to an undefeated season in 2010. The Baker women (pictured) defeated Morningside and Friends last week and currently rank No. 2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The Baker men sit at 1-0 after taking down Friends last Saturday.

Baker's Presler chosen for Red Cross/NAIA leadership program
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Baker University women's tennis player April "Denae" Presler was one of 13 student-athletes selected to participate in the 2010-11 Red Cross/NAIA leadership program.
Presler is no stranger to leadership, "Danae is a real team leader and a great teammate; she is an excellent choice for this challenge. Danae works as hard or harder than anyone on a team that is known for its efforts on and off the court.
