The Wildcats had 10 place winners, led by two finalists: freshman Jacob Nowak (184, Overland Park, Kan.) and senior Levi Calhoun (285, Oklahoma City), who finished runner-up in their weight classes.
The Kansas colleges and universities with varsity wrestling programs comprised the field of the tournament.
Each team brought their top-10 varsity starters. In attendance were NCAA Division II teams, Fort Hays State University and host Kansas Newman University. The competing junior colleges were Neosho County Community College, Pratt Community College and Labette Community College. Colby Community College fields a wrestling program, but did not compete due to injuries.
The Wildcats will compete in their final dual this Friday, Feb. 5, when they travel to York College (Neb.) to try to complete their first season with a perfect 5-0 dual record.
After the dual against York on Friday, the Wildcats travel to Sioux City, Iowa, on Saturday, Feb. 6, for the Briar Cliff Open before heading into regional tournament action Feb. 20.
