Baker will take seven wrestlers to the 2013 NAIA Wrestling National Championship meet on Mar. 1-2 in Des Moines, Iowa, as 285-pound wrestler Brandon Gebhardt, 184-pound wrestler Jarid Price, 125-pound wrestler Alan Callahan, 141-pound wrestler Joel Olivas, 149-pound wrestler Nick Haugen, 165-pound wrestler Nathan Sommer and 174-pound wrestler Parker Owen will all make the trip to nationals.
Gebhardt and Olivas advanced all the way to the championship match of Saturday's NAIA Central regional, No. 1 ranked Gebhardt fell to No. 2 ranked Eric Thompson of Grand View in the final, as Thompson pinned him in 32 seconds and Olivas fell to Grand View's Gustavo Martinez by a score of 6-2.
Jarid Price won the 184-pound third-place match over Oklahoma City's Cody Sivertsen, 5-3, and Callahan won the 125 third-place match against Central Baptist's Travis Shelnutt, 9-2.
Nick Haugen also took home third-place in the 149-pound weight class with a victory over Bethany's Courtney Strauss and Parker won the third-place match in the 174-pound class over Grand View's Cody Swim, 4-3. Sommer earned a spot as an at-large selection.
Thompson was named the Wrestler of the Central Region and Grand View head coach Nick Mitchell was named the NAIA Central Region Coach of the Year.
