BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University head wrestling coach Pete Di Pol has announced his first schedule as head coach of the Wildcats and will feature five home dates in 2013-14.

Baker will open up the season with the 5th Annual Dan Harris Open, named for the former Baker Director of Athletics. The Open will take place on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 9 a.m., at BU's Collins Gymnasium.

The Wildcats will then hit the road from Nov. 6 – Jan. 12 for various tournaments and duals. Some highlights of those road matches are the HAAC Quad on Nov. 16 at Missouri Valley and on Nov. 22 Baker will take on one of the premiere wrestling programs in the nation in NCAA Division I power University of Iowa Hawkeyes for a dual in Iowa City, Iowa.

After the Winter break, Baker will take on the NWCA National Duals in Des Moines, Iowa from Jan. 11-12. That tournament will match up Baker with several opponents that have a chance to qualify for the NAIA National Championships.

"I am very excited about our schedule especially the opportunity to go to Iowa and take on the most storied wrestling program in wrestling history the Iowa Hawkeyes," said coach Di Pol. "The opportunity to go to the NWCA National Duals and to compete against the best NAIA teams in the country is something we are looking forward to as well at the HAAC quad.

"We are especially excited to host the Dan Harris Open and honor a great man as well as the addition of the Jimmy May Open which will honor another great man and his legacy here at Baker University."

The rest of the Baker home schedule will consist of a home dual against Pratt Community College on Jan. 14, a dual with Hannibal-LaGrange University on Jan. 28, a home dual with Central Baptist College on Jan. 30 which is also senior night and it will all culminate with the 1st Annual Jimmy May-hem Open on Feb. 9.

The Jimmy May "Mayhem" Open is in honor of former Baker University wrestling coach Jimmy May who became the first head coach of the Baker wrestling program and turned it into a nationally ranked wrestling power in just four seasons.

The NAIA National Championship tournament will move much closer to home for BU. After three seasons in Des Moines, Iowa, the championship tournament will now be held in Topeka, Kan., at the Kansas Expocentre from March 7-8.

"The expectations for my first season here are extremely high," said Di Pol. "My goal and our team goal is to be National Champions. We feel if your goal is not to be National Champions than we are in the wrong business and I would not be the right man for the job. Another expectation is we want to get the job done in the classroom and our goal for that is to have a team GPA over a 3.25.

"I am adjusting well to the University and the support has been tremendous. I cannot wait for our team to get back on campus and for our new recruits to get here as well. I feel recruiting has gone extremely well and Jimmy May and Coach Levi Calhoun have been instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition and setting me up for success as well as the team."
