HAYS, Kan. – The Baker University wrestling team took fourth out of 10 teams on Saturday at the 2014 Kansas Cup Championship on the campus of Fort Hays State University.

Bryce Shoemaker shined for the Wildcats, as he took home the 133-pound championship with wins over Labette County's Kaleb Furr in the first round, then defeated Colby CC's Sebastian Nehls in the second round.

He followed that up with a 7-2 win over Neosho County's Lemuel Johnson for the 133-pound championship.

Alan Callahan took 5th-place in the 125-pound class with his 2-2 record on Saturday, and teammate Connor Middleton just missed a title in the 149-pound division, as he advanced all the way to the championship bout and fell to Bethany's Colby Crank by a score of 10-3.

Aaron Seybold also advanced to the final match in the 157-pound weight class. He advanced to the final with a 5-0 decision over Colton Duhr of Newman University and then fell to FHSU's Mitchell Means by a 9-5 decision.

Reining NAIA All-American Parker Owen also advanced to the 174-pound weight class final with his wins over Benedictine's Johnny Perz, Newman's Michael Kubik and Pratt CC's Cody Carson, but narrowly fell to FHSU's Josh Rodriguez in the championship bout in a 7-4 decision.

John Hambleton took home fifth-place in the 197-pound division with an overtime 3-1 win over Newman's Steven Cooksley.
